One of my favourite birds. The tiny Goldcrest can be seen flitting about most of the UK and is our smallest bird weighing just 6g. An eruption of chirps and movement, they are seemingly never still for a second. They are a joy to watch dancing around branches and bush, but make a hard subject to photograph. This image happened by chance. I was down at an estuary admiring some Wigeon when this bird landed in the gorse in front of me. I spent a good few minutes watching it navigating the spiky bush, waiting for it to land near the yellow flowers. Everything aligned and I was able to capture this image. I think the yellow flowers of the gorse complement the golden crest perfectly.
